Bio:
Dr. Poddar completed his B.Sc., LL.B. and LL.M. from University of North Bengal. Environmental Law was his specialization in LL.M. and the title of his dissertation was 'Role & Perception of United Nations and Indian Response towards Environmental Protection'. He has been awarded his Ph.D. degree from North Bengal University on the topic `Conservation of Natural Resources and International Law Regime with special reference to Indian Position'.

In NUJS he has been involved in preparing a Manual on Environmental Protection, supported by Ministry of Environment & Forests, Government of India in collaboration with W.B. Pollution Control Board. He has submitted a study report on Impact Assessment of State Commission and District Fora supported by Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Government of India.
Other:
Before joining NUJS he was practicing as an advocate in Siliguri Court and subsequently in Calcutta High Court and then teaching in Midnapore Law College.
