Educational Qualifications:

  • Pursuing PhD under the supervision of Prof. Prabhat Patnaik, from Centre for Economic Studies and Planning [hereinafter CESP], Jawaharlal Nehru University [hereinafter JNU], New Delhi 110 067.]. Title of the thesis 'A Comparative Study of Modern Chemical Based Agriculture and Organic Farms in terms of Sustainability'.
  • Completed Master of Philosophy in 1998 under the supervision of Prof. Prabhat Patnaik, from CESP, JNU. Title of dissertation was 'Trade Restriction as an Instrument of Controlling Environmental Degradation'. Final Grade Point Average was 7.5 (A Only, equivalent to 70-79%). This was the highest FGPA in the Centre for the 1995 MPhil batch.
  • Completed Master of Arts in 1995 from CESP, JNU. Final Grade Point Average was 5.56 (B Plus, equivalent to 59-64%).
  • Completed Bachelor of Science with Honours in Economics in 1993 from St. Paul's Cathedral Mission College, Calcutta University with 52.5% (Second Class). This was the highest mark in the college for Economics, for 1990 batch.
  • Completed Higher Secondary Examination in 1990, from Patha Bhavan, West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education with 61.4% (First Division).
  • Completed Madhyamik Pariksha (Secondary Examination) in 1988 from Jagadbandhu Institution, West Bengal Board of Secondary Education, with 74.6%.

Present:
  1. Assistant Professor in Economics, West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, LB 12, Salt Lake, Sector III, Kolkata 700 098, since September 2001.
  2. Have been teaching two compulsory courses in Economics to first year students of five year LLB programme since I have joined.
    1. Economics-I deals with Microeconomic foundations
    2. Economics-II discusses the role of the State in the economy with special emphasis on economic reforms since 1991.
  3. Have offered two optional courses to the LLB students of third year onwards.
    1. 'Law and Economics', where an introduction is given to economics of tort, contract and property with special focus on intellectual property.
    2. 'Ecology, Policy and Law', interdisciplinary in its approach, discusses the challenges faced by Law in handling ecological problems.
  4. I wish to offer a new optional course titled 'Social Security and Law' in the Monsoon semester, starting 1st July 2009.
