PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

  • August 2007-May 2008: Mr. Baruah continued his practice in Delhi with the partnership firm Lawlinks. He has appeared before numerous courts and tribunal including the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India, The High Court of Delhi, The National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, The Central Administrative Tribunal, Trial Courts in Delhi, The Delhi School Tribunal, The Central Information Commission and The Employees Provident Fund Tribunal.
  • August 2006-August 2007: Mr. Baruah joined the chambers of Mr. L. Nageswara Rao after completing his masters degree. He worked on a range of matters pertaining to employment law, constitutional law, administrative law, criminal law, labour law, arbitration, tenders and contracts, land acquisition, rent control, succession and electricity laws. He assisted MR. Rao in cases before the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India, the High Courts of Delhi, Kerala and Hyderabad, The Electricity Appellate Tribunal and the Debt Recovery Appellate Tribunal.
  • Central Vigilance Commission on the PDS (CVC): While practicing in the Supreme Court, Mr Baruah also worked as a member of the legal team of the CVC, of which Justice D.P. Wadhwa, retired judge of the Supreme Court of India, was the chairman.Mr. Baruah worked closely with the Hon'ble Judge and officials of the Ministry of Food and Supplies, The Delhi State Civil Supplies Corporation and the Food Corporation of India. The work involved research, documentation, public hearings, inspections, investigation and devising measures to control corruption in the Public Distribution System. He ably assisted the commission in drafting its report to the Supreme Court of India, in which his name finds mention.
  • June-August 2005: Mr. Baruah joined Chambers of Mr. L. Nageswara Rao, Senior Advocate and former Additional Solicitor General of India, Supreme Court of India. The practice area of the chambers involved matters relating to employment law, constitutional law, administrative law and criminal law. During this short while, Mr. Baruah assisted the senior counsel in the Justice K.T. Thomas Commission set up by the Supreme Court of India.

    1. Winner of the 7th Raj Anand National Intellectual Property Moot, 2004.
    2. Adjudged the Best Student Advocate in the All India Human Rights Moot Court Competition organized by School of Indian Legal Thought, Kottayam in the year 2004.
  2. Debates:
    1. Runners Up in the 57th National Mukherjee Memorial Debate organized by St. Stephens College in 2004.
    2. Winner of the National Debate organized by IIIT Hyderbad in the year 2005.
  3. Sports:
    1. Table Tennis Champion of NALSAR University of Law, 2001
    2. Member of the runners up team of NALSAR University of law in the Inter University Volleyball Competition at Hyderabad.
    3. Member of the University Cricket Team of NALSAR University of Law.
  4. Other Awards
    1. Felix Scholarship for the BCL programme at the University of Oxford.
    2. Gold Medal for the Best Student Orator in NALSAR University of Law in 2005.
