WBNUJS FOUNDATION DAY CELEBRATIONS

It was a truly memorable coming together of the old and the new, when, on the 3rd of August 2023, the WBNUJS Kolkata marked the 25th anniversary of the promulgation of the institution’s parent statute with its first Foundation Day celebrations.
The event, conducted in the central auditorium on the university premises was attended by students, faculty and staff alike, and brought alive memories bittersweet, of the rich long years gone by.
Formally opened by Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. N.K. Chakrabarti and his ceremonial felicitation of the students who had done the university proud by having been adjudged winners at the prestigious Stetson International Environmental Law Moot Court Competition 2023, – the event, compèred by alumna & faculty, Dr. Paramita DasGupta, – was graced by addresses from the university’s founding faculty, Prof. Dr. Anirban Mazumder and Ms. Ruchira Goswami; by the first two batches of LL.B. and LL.M. graduands, Dr. Shameek Sen and Dr. Lovely Dasgupta; Library-In-Charge, Ms. Tutu Mukherjee; and representative of NUJS administrative departments, Mr. Ali Imam Siddiqui.
This was followed by the Keynote Lecture delivered by Mr. Mithun V. Thanks, distinguished alumnus and Partner, M/s. Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas, who, through his inimitable words, brought home to all, the profundity of the mantle of our Alma Mater’s legacy, and indeed, the true significance of the day.
The celebrations were brought to a close by beautiful vocal and dance recitals presented by the young talents of the NUJS Cultural Committee, followed by the formal vote of thanks delivered by The Registrar, Mr. Raja Chakraborty.
