Dr. Anirban Mazumder

Bio-note

Prof. Anirban Mazumder, a graduate from Calcutta University, has done his LL.B. from Burdwan University. He went on to his LL.M. from National Law School of India University, Bangalore and M Phil from National University of Juridical Sciences, Calcutta. He has been awarded Ph.D by National University of Juridical Sciences, Calcutta.
He specializes on Intellectual Property Law and Information Technology Law and offers these subjects both in undergraduate and post graduate level. He is teaching Copyright Law, Patent Law and Information Technology Law since 2003. He wrote his Ph. D thesis on Copyright Protection in Databases.
Prof. Mazumder, a Fellow of the Max Plank Institute for Intellectual Property, Munich, has been a Visiting Scholar at the Touro Law School, New York University, and Cardiff University. He has also been a Cegla Scholar at the Tel Aviv University, Israel.
He has authored several articles on Copyright Law in national and international journals. His book “Database Law: Indian Perspective” has been published by Springer.
Prof. Mazumder has been Principal Investigator of Major Research Project of UGC on “Patent Prosecution Challenges in Biotechnology Related Inventions”. He is also Principal Investigator of West Bengal Judicial Academy Project on “Judicial Trend in Cases related to Cyber Crime with special reference to West Bengal”.
He is member of Expert Committee on Utility Model, constituted by Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce, Govt. of India.
He is also member of Copyright Enforcement Advisory Council.
Prof. Mazumder has been the Coordinator of MHRD IPR Chair at NUJS during 2014 – 2019.
