Dr. Mitra graduated from Presidency College, Kolkata and stood 2nd from the University with a major in Sociology. She completed her post-graduation from University of Calcutta with a specialization in Crime and Deviance. Dr. Mitra obtained Ph.D degree from Jadavpur
University in 2012.
Specializes in Criminology, Police Science and Management and Social Research Methodology. Completed two research projects under ICSSR and ICSSR IMPRESS and has more than 50 (fifty) publications in national and international journals including fourteen publications indexed in Scopus. Dr.Mitra has successfully guided eight PhD scholars.She has researched as a Guest Scholar in at Max Planck Institute of Foreign and International Criminal Law, Germany on two occasions in 2017 and 2018. She is the Managing Editor of KIIT Journal of Law and Society. Currently she is the Vice President of International Sociological Association, RC29: Deviance and Social Control.
